Egyptian public university in Cairo, founded in 1950 as Ibrahim Pasha University and renamed Ain Shams in 1954, the third oldest university in the country. Runs faculties of pharmacy, medicine, dentistry, nursing, science, engineering, agriculture, commerce, law and the arts with the Ain Shams University Hospitals and the specialised hospital, and its Faculty of Pharmacy teaches pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacognosy, microbiology and pharmacology with substantial drug and natural product research.
