American private medical school in Albany, New York, founded in 1839 and one of the oldest in the country, part of the Albany Medical Center with its teaching hospital. Teaches the doctor of medicine with graduate programmes in biomedical sciences through the Alden March Bioethics Institute and departments of molecular and cellular physiology, immunology and microbial disease and neuroscience and experimental therapeutics, and carries out research in cardiovascular science, neuroscience and pharmacology with its own laboratories and clinical trials.
