Indian military medical college at Wanowrie in Pune, Maharashtra, established in 1948 as the first medical college set up by the armed forces of any country in Asia, run by the Armed Forces Medical Services and affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. Teaches the MBBS degree, postgraduate and superspecialty medical programmes and nursing to cadets who join the medical services, with departments including pharmacology, and trains at the Command Hospital Southern Command with research in tropical medicine, transfusion medicine and preventive medicine.
