Armed Forces Medical Examiner System

Medical examiner organisation of the United States Department of Defense at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, under the Defense Health Agency. Carries out autopsies and death investigation for service members and others under military jurisdiction, runs the armed forces medical examiner's forensic toxicology laboratory, which tests for drugs, alcohol, carbon monoxide and other poisons in aviation mishap and death investigations, and operates DNA identification, mortality surveillance and forensic pathology fellowship programmes.
