Egyptian public university in Assiut in Upper Egypt, founded in 1957 as the first university in the south of the country. Runs faculties of medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, nursing, veterinary medicine, science, engineering, agriculture, commerce and the humanities together with its own university hospitals, and its Faculty of Pharmacy teaches pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacognosy, pharmacology, microbiology and clinical pharmacy with substantial natural product and drug research.
