Barcelona Supercomputing Center

Spanish national supercomputing centre in Barcelona, Catalonia, founded in 2005 and home to the MareNostrum supercomputer, run jointly by the Spanish government, the Catalan government and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Its life sciences department carries out computational biology and biomedicine research including molecular modelling and molecular dynamics of drug targets, computer aided drug design, genome analysis and personalised medicine, and provides supercomputing resources and collaboration to pharmaceutical and biotechnology researchers; it is the parent institution of spin outs such as Pharmacelera.
