German state authority in Düsseldorf, the district government for the Düsseldorf administrative region of North Rhine-Westphalia, which carries out the state's supervisory and licensing work in its area. Among its health and consumer protection duties it is the competent authority for pharmaceutical oversight, licensing and inspecting manufacturers, importers and wholesalers of medicines and active ingredients, issuing good manufacturing and good distribution practice certificates, supervising pharmacies, blood and tissue establishments and medical devices and acting in clinical trial and pharmacovigilance matters alongside its work in education, transport, environment and regional planning.
