American certification body for pharmacists, established in 1976 as an autonomous division of the American Pharmacists Association and based in Washington DC. Recognises pharmacy practice specialties and sets the standards for board certification in more than a dozen of them including pharmacotherapy, oncology, geriatric, psychiatric, ambulatory care, critical care and sterile compounding pharmacy, writes and administers the certification examinations and sets the requirements for recertification.
