German university hospital and medical school in Berlin, whose history goes back to 1710 and which is run jointly by the Humboldt University and the Free University of Berlin, one of the largest university hospitals in Europe with campuses at Mitte, Virchow-Klinikum, Benjamin Franklin and Buch. Provides highly specialised care across the specialties, teaches medicine and dentistry, and carries out research in infection and immunology, neuroscience, cardiovascular and metabolic disease and regenerative therapies with its own clinical trials centre and laboratories.
