German public university in Greifswald in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, founded in 1456 and one of the oldest in Europe, which carried the name of Ernst Moritz Arndt until 2018. Its Institute of Pharmacy teaches the German pharmacy degree with departments of pharmaceutical technology and biopharmaceutics, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutical biology and clinical pharmacy, and is known for research on gastrointestinal drug behaviour and biorelevant testing; the university also runs a medical faculty with its own university hospital and research in microbiology, proteomics and community medicine.
