George Washington University

American private university in the Foggy Bottom district of Washington DC, founded in 1821 and the largest higher education institution in the district. Runs the School of Medicine and Health Sciences with departments including pharmacology and physiology and its own medical faculty associates practice, the Milken Institute School of Public Health, the School of Nursing and the GW Cancer Center, and carries out research in pharmacology and drug discovery, HIV and infectious disease, cancer, regulatory affairs and health policy, with a clinical and translational science institute running trials.
