Ghanaian public service body in Accra, created by act of parliament in 1996 as an autonomous executive agency under the Ministry of Health, which delivers public health services across the country. Runs the regional and district health directorates, teaching, regional and district hospitals, health centres and community based planning and services compounds, manages the expanded programme on immunisation and disease surveillance and control, and handles procurement, storage and distribution of medicines and health commodities to public facilities together with health worker training.
