Provides independent scientific advice to European Union policy, runs European Union reference laboratories and produces certified reference materials at Geel, works on health and food safety, chemicals and nanomaterials, alternatives to animal testing at its EURL ECVAM laboratory, medical devices and health technology assessment and on standards, measurement and validated methods used by industry and regulators.
