Makerere University Walter Reed Project

Ugandan non-profit research organisation in Kampala, established in 2002 as a collaboration between Makerere University and the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research of the United States. Runs HIV vaccine and treatment research and clinical trials, the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief care and treatment programme in several districts, emerging infectious disease surveillance including influenza, Ebola and other viral haemorrhagic fevers, and operates its own laboratories with good clinical laboratory practice standards and training for Ugandan researchers.
