Ethiopian public university in Mekelle, the capital of Tigray, formed in 2000 by bringing together earlier colleges in the city and one of the country's larger universities. Teaches through its College of Health Sciences with pharmacy, medicine, nursing, midwifery and medical laboratory sciences, together with colleges of natural and computational sciences, veterinary sciences, engineering, agriculture and business, runs the Ayder Comprehensive Specialized Hospital as its teaching hospital, and carries out research in medicinal plants, pharmaceutical sciences and public health.
