American public land grant research university at Starkville in Mississippi, founded in 1878. Teaches through its College of Veterinary Medicine, the College of Arts and Sciences with chemistry and biological sciences, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences with food science, nutrition and health promotion and poultry science, and colleges of engineering and business, and runs its own veterinary teaching hospital and diagnostic laboratory, agricultural experiment stations and research on food safety, natural products and animal health.
