Ugandan medicines regulator in Kampala, established by law in 1993, which controls human and veterinary medicines, medical devices and related products. Registers medicines and licenses manufacturers, importers, wholesalers and pharmacies, inspects premises for good manufacturing and distribution practice, runs its own national drug quality control laboratory for testing and the detection of substandard and falsified medicines, operates pharmacovigilance and post market surveillance and controls narcotic substances and clinical trial approvals.
