American agricultural seed company headquartered in Johnston, Iowa, founded in 1926 by Henry A. Wallace as the Hi-Bred Corn Company and the pioneer of commercial hybrid maize seed. Breeds, produces and sells hybrid maize, soybean, sunflower, canola, sorghum, alfalfa and other crop seed together with seed treatments, crop protection products and agronomy services worldwide, and after ownership by DuPont and the DowDuPont merger now trades as the Pioneer brand of Corteva Agriscience.
