Saudi public university for women in Riyadh, the largest women's university in the world, which grew out of the first women's teacher training college opened in the city in 1970 and was established as an independent university in 2008 on its own campus in the north of the capital. Its Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and health colleges include a College of Pharmacy teaching the Doctor of Pharmacy together with colleges of medicine, dentistry, nursing and health sciences, and it runs a university medical city, research centres in health and biotechnology and its own teaching laboratories.
