American public land grant research university at West Lafayette, Indiana, founded in 1869 and named after its benefactor John Purdue. Its College of Pharmacy, founded in 1884, teaches the Doctor of Pharmacy and graduate programmes in industrial and physical pharmacy, medicinal chemistry and molecular pharmacology and pharmacy practice, and the university runs the Purdue Institute for Drug Discovery and the Center for Pharmaceutical Processing Research alongside colleges of veterinary medicine, engineering, science and agriculture.
