British professional body for physicians, founded in London in 1518 under royal charter and one of the oldest medical colleges in the world, with sites in London and Liverpool. Sets standards and curricula for physician training, runs the MRCP examinations jointly with the Edinburgh and Glasgow colleges, publishes clinical guidelines, the Clinical Medicine journal and national clinical audits, advises on medicines policy and safe prescribing and represents physicians to government and the health service.
