Indian state agricultural university at Chatha near Jammu in Jammu and Kashmir, established in 1999 when the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology was split into separate universities for Jammu and Kashmir. Teaches through faculties of agriculture, veterinary sciences and animal husbandry at R.S. Pura, basic sciences and horticulture and forestry, runs research stations, a veterinary teaching hospital and diagnostic laboratories, and carries out research on crops, animal health, soil and water testing and food technology for the region.
