American medical device company at Austin in Texas, part of Sulzer Medica of Switzerland, which made mechanical prosthetic heart valves. Produced the CarboMedics range of pyrolytic carbon bileaflet valves for aortic and mitral replacement, including the standard, Top Hat and reduced series aortic valves and the Carbo-Seal valved conduit, together with annuloplasty rings and related cardiac surgery products, and its valve line has been sold under later owners since 2003.
