Tanzanian government ministry with its head office in Dodoma, responsible for health policy and services in the mainland of the country. Sets national health policy and standards, runs the national hospitals and specialised institutes, plans and procures medicines and health commodities through the Medical Stores Department, oversees immunisation, reproductive and child health and disease control programmes and supervises regulatory bodies including the Tanzania Medicines and Medical Devices Authority and the professional councils.
