Uzbek state medical university in Tashkent, formed in 2005 by merging the first and second Tashkent state medical institutes, whose teaching goes back to the medical faculty founded in 1919, and later reorganised as Tashkent State Medical University. Teaches medicine, paediatrics, dentistry, pharmacy, public health and nursing with postgraduate specialist and doctoral training, runs its own multidisciplinary clinics for teaching and treatment, and carries out research in clinical medicine, pharmacology and toxicology with its own laboratories.
