American private university with campuses at Medford and Somerville, in the Chinatown district of Boston and at Grafton, founded in 1852. Teaches through its school of medicine, school of dental medicine, Cummings school of veterinary medicine, Friedman school of nutrition science and policy and its graduate school of biomedical sciences, hosts the Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development known for its work on the cost and time of bringing medicines to market, and runs clinical and translational research with Tufts Medical Center.
