American academic medical centre in San Francisco, California, the hospital system of the University of California, San Francisco, working from the Parnassus Heights, Mission Bay and Mount Zion campuses together with affiliated hospitals. Provides tertiary and quaternary care with strengths in cancer, neurosciences, cardiology, transplantation and children's services at the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals, runs a hospital pharmacy with clinical pharmacists trained through the UCSF School of Pharmacy and an investigational drug service, and conducts a large clinical trials programme including early phase studies.
