French public university in Tours, Indre-et-Loire, founded in 1969 out of the older faculties of the city and known formally as the Université de Tours. Its Faculty of Pharmacy Philippe Maupas teaches the pharmacy degree with departments of pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacognosy, pharmacology, pharmaceutical technology and clinical pharmacy, and the university runs research units in imaging and brain, in respiratory disease and in innate immunity and antibody engineering with the Tours university hospital, including work on therapeutic antibodies and clinical pharmacology.
