American student support centre of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, housed in the Sterne Library on campus and named after a gift from Vulcan Materials Company. Provides tutoring, supplemental instruction for difficult courses, success and academic advising, study skills workshops and supervised study hours to help undergraduate students, many of them in science and pre health programmes, complete their degrees.
