Egyptian public university in Zagazig, Sharqia governorate, founded in 1974 out of an earlier branch of Ain Shams University and one of the larger universities in the country, with a branch at Benha until it became independent. Runs faculties of pharmacy, medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, nursing, science, engineering, agriculture, commerce, law and the arts with the Zagazig University Hospitals, and its Faculty of Pharmacy teaches pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacognosy, microbiology and pharmacology with substantial drug and natural product research.
