Algerian public university at Annaba on the Mediterranean coast, founded in 1975 out of an earlier institute and named after the resistance figure Badji Mokhtar. Teaches medicine, pharmacy and dentistry through its faculty of medicine, together with chemistry, biology, process engineering and its other faculties, works with the Annaba university hospital for clinical teaching, and carries out research on medicinal plants, analytical chemistry, materials and environmental science.
