Former research and development site of AstraZeneca at Bakewell Road in Loughborough in Leicestershire, which came to the company through Fisons and worked on respiratory and inflammation medicines together with medicinal chemistry, drug metabolism and pharmaceutical development. It employed some twelve hundred people before the company announced its closure in 2011 and moved the work to Alderley Park and Mölndal; the site was later taken over by other life science businesses.
