Portuguese public hospital group serving the west of Lisbon and the neighbouring municipalities, formed in 2005 by joining the São Francisco Xavier, Egas Moniz and Santa Cruz hospitals and now run as the Lisboa Ocidental local health unit with the area's primary care centres. Provides emergency and intensive care, cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery including transplantation at Santa Cruz, neurology, nephrology and dialysis, surgery and obstetrics, teaches medical students, and runs its own hospital pharmacies, clinical laboratories and clinical trials.
