Spanish national cancer research centre in Madrid, founded in 1998 under the Carlos III health institute and the ministry of science. Runs research programmes in molecular oncology, structural biology, cancer genetics and clinical research, holds an experimental therapeutics programme with its own medicinal chemistry and screening groups that takes compounds from discovery towards the clinic, provides core technology units to Spanish researchers and trains doctoral and postdoctoral scientists.
