American private university at Orange in southern California, founded in 1861 and named after the businessman Charles C. Chapman. Runs the School of Pharmacy on its Rinker health science campus at Irvine, teaching the Doctor of Pharmacy and graduate pharmaceutical sciences with departments of biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences and pharmacy practice, together with the Crean College of Health and Behavioral Sciences, the Schmid College of Science and Technology and its film, business and law schools, and carries out research in drug discovery and delivery, neuropharmacology and health outcomes.
