Portuguese public hospital on Rua da Junqueira in the Alcântara district of Lisbon, opened in 1902 as the Hospital do Ultramar and named after the Nobel laureate António Egas Moniz. Has about 380 beds and works with the Francisco Xavier and Santa Cruz hospitals within the western Lisbon health unit, providing cardiology, vascular surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, pulmonology, dermatology, ophthalmology and urology, day hospital and surgery, its own pharmacy and diagnostic services, and taking part in clinical trials.
