Institut Català de la Salut

Catalan health institute, the largest public health care provider in Catalonia, created in 1983 within the regional government. Runs eight university hospitals including Vall d'Hebron, Bellvitge and Germans Trias i Pujol together with several hundred primary care centres across the region, employs most of the region's public doctors, nurses and pharmacists, manages hospital and primary care pharmacy and prescribing, and supports teaching and clinical research through its centres and their research institutes.
