Brazilian public producer of vaccines and diagnostics in Rio de Janeiro, known as Bio-Manguinhos, one of the technical units of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation and founded in 1976. Makes vaccines for the national immunisation programme including yellow fever, measles, mumps and rubella, polio, meningococcal and rotavirus vaccines, produces biopharmaceuticals and diagnostic kits, carries out technology transfer agreements with international manufacturers, supplies the Pan American Health Organization and other countries, and runs its own research, quality control laboratories and clinical studies.
