British public research university at Bailrigg near Lancaster in England, founded in 1964 and organised on a collegiate model. Its Faculty of Health and Medicine runs Lancaster Medical School and departments of biomedical and life sciences and health research, and its Department of Chemistry works on medicinal and materials chemistry, with research in cancer biology, neuroscience, infection and antimicrobial resistance, health economics and clinical trials through the Lancaster Clinical Trials Unit.
