Latvian research institute in Riga, founded in 1957 and the leading centre for chemistry and pharmaceutical research in the country, where mildronate and other medicines were discovered. Carries out research in organic and medicinal chemistry, heterocyclic chemistry, physical organic chemistry and pharmacology, runs analytical and screening facilities and a small scale synthesis unit, works with Latvian and international pharmaceutical companies and trains doctoral students with Riga universities.
