National Veterinary Research Institute

Nigerian federal veterinary research institute at Vom in Plateau State, founded in 1924 as a laboratory for animal disease and now under the agriculture ministry. Researches and diagnoses animal diseases, makes and sells veterinary vaccines including those against Newcastle disease, foot and mouth disease and rabies, runs national reference and diagnostic laboratories for animal disease surveillance and residue and quality testing, keeps a vaccine production plant and outstations across the country and trains veterinary and laboratory staff.
