American biopharmaceutical company founded in 1998 at South San Francisco as Sunesis Pharmaceuticals, which worked on small molecule cancer medicines including the topoisomerase inhibitor vosaroxin and a BTK inhibitor, and which merged with Viracta Therapeutics in 2021 and took its name. The combined company works on treatments for virus associated cancers, led by a programme in Epstein-Barr virus positive lymphoma, and runs its own clinical development.
