Wood research institute of the Technical University of Munich, part of its school of life sciences and working from Munich and the Freising-Weihenstephan campus, with a history going back to 1928. Studies wood biology and chemistry, wood based materials and adhesives, cellulose and lignin chemistry, biopolymers and the processing of renewable raw materials, and works with industry on materials that also serve packaging and pharmaceutical uses.
