Canadian public university in downtown Toronto, Ontario, founded in 1948 as the Ryerson Institute of Technology and renamed Toronto Metropolitan University in 2022. Teaches through faculties of science with chemistry, biology and biomedical sciences, engineering and architectural science with biomedical engineering and chemical engineering, community services with nursing, nutrition and midwifery and a new school of medicine at Brampton, and carries out research in drug delivery and biomaterials, food science, public health and biomedical devices.
