UL Research Institutes

American non-profit safety science research organisation based at Evanston in Illinois, the research arm of the UL organisation whose origins go back to the Underwriters Laboratories founded in 1894. Runs institutes for fire safety research, electrochemical safety, chemical insights into emissions and human health, materials discovery and digital safety, publishes open safety research and data, funds academic research and education programmes and works with regulators and standards bodies.
