University of Damascus

Syrian public university in Damascus, founded in 1923 out of medical and law schools of the Ottoman period and the oldest and largest university in the country. Teaches pharmacy, medicine, dentistry and nursing along with science, engineering, law and the humanities, runs its own teaching hospitals and laboratories in pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacognosy and pharmacology and trains much of the country's pharmaceutical workforce.
