American academic health science centre in the Texas Medical Center at Houston, established in 1972 as part of the University of Texas System and trading as UTHealth Houston. Runs the McGovern Medical School, the School of Public Health, schools of dentistry, nursing and biomedical informatics and the graduate school of biomedical sciences, provides patient care through UT Physicians and its behavioural health hospital, and carries out research in environmental and occupational health, toxicology, epidemiology and drug discovery with its own laboratories.
