Japanese national university with campuses at Yamaguchi, Ube and Tokiwa in Yamaguchi prefecture, whose teaching goes back to a school of 1815 and which took its present form in 1949. Teaches medicine and health sciences at Ube, together with agriculture, science, engineering and veterinary medicine, runs the Yamaguchi University Hospital for clinical teaching and trials, and carries out research in pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, biotechnology and regenerative medicine.
