Rassoul Dinarvand, received his Pharm.D. from University of Tehran in 1988. He then successfully completed his M.Sc. in 1990 and his Ph.D. in 1993 in the field of Controlled Drug Delivery Systems at the University of Manchester, UK. He joined Faculty of Pharmacy, Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 1994 as a faculty member and was promoted to full professorship of Pharmaceutics in 2005. He was the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Tehran University of Medical Sciences from 2009 till 2013. Prof. Dinarvand has been active in the pharmaceutical administration in both industry and regulatory authority at the highest level: seven years as CEO of several Pharmaceutical companies and twice as the Head of Iran Food and Drug Administration. He has also been involved in pharmacoeconomy and national drug policy research. However, his main research interest is in the field of Controlled Drug Delivery Systems and Nanomedicine and has published over 400 peer reviewed papers in the field. In recent years he has focused on the design and application of nanostructures as targeted drug delivery systems mainly in the field of cancer treatment. His group have established several knowledge-based companies active in this field. He is the founder and director of Nanotechnology Research Centre, Tehran University of Medical Sciences. He has recently established Honam Pharmed, an industrial accelerator for controlled drug delivery startups with the support of both private and public sectors. Rassoul collaborates with the Leicester School of Pharmacy, De Montfort University, UK as an Honorary Professor. He is a co-founder of Iranian Society of Pharmaceutical Scientists and Iran Controlled Release Society. He is also a member of many national and international societies and committees.
