Dr. Pereira holds a bachelor’s degree and Teaching Licensure in Chemistry from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ), a master’s degree in chemistry from UFRRJ, and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Strasbourg (France) and UFRRJ, with a period as visiting PhD at the University of Bologna (Italy). Currently, he is a Postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Molecular and Translational Medicine (IMTM) and Czech Advanced Technology and Research Institute (CATRIN) under the supervision of Prof. Alexander Dömling. His research focuses on Multi-Step Synthesis, Automation and Miniaturization of Medicinal and Organic Chemistry, with the aim of accelerating the discovery of innovative therapeutics. Within the Domling lab- one of the very few worldwide pioneering the use of nanoliter-scale Echo acoustic droplet ejection systems in Organic Chemistry – He specialize in High-Throughput Synthesis and Analytics. He apply advanced platforms such as Echo, Tecan EVO and OT-2 for building block synthesis, coupled with automated purification and analysis workflows (waters Autopurifier, waters UPLC and ThermoFisher HR-MS). His Medicinal Chemistry projects include: New small molecules PD-L1 antagonists for oncogenic treatment TNF-α antagonists High throughput Molecular Glue synthesis SOS1 inhibitors New Myosin inhibitors DEL synthesis Previously, I gained hands experience in Organic Chemistry, with an emphasis on Organic Synthesis, working mainly on the following topics: synthesis of heterocyclic compounds with potential bioactivity, synthesis and photophysical characterization of luminescent substances, multicomponent chemistry, and metal-catalysed cross-coupling reactions. Previous positions include Organic Chemistry Teaching Assistant, Chemistry Professor for the Pre-ENEM program, CNPq/PIBIC Scientific Initiation Fellow (2013–2016), and CNPq/FAPERJ top student Master’s Fellow (2016–2018). Co-author of 13 peer-reviewed papers (H-index = 9), 2 book chapters, 1 patent (INPI- 2016), 1 patent submited, 1 abstract, 29 abstracts published in conferences and > scientific 20 awards. My long-term ambition is to advance is to advance the automation of Medicinal Chemistry and the DMTA cycle (Design-Make-Test-Analyse), thereby enabling faster, more efficient drug discovery and the development of transformative therapies for unmet medical needs.
